Engineering at Turkey's private universities: which universities, language of instruction, and the real cost for Iranian students

After medicine, engineering is the field families ask us about most — and unlike medicine, there is no tight selective bottleneck here: almost every private university runs several engineering branches. The real challenge for an applicant is choosing from that volume: which university offers your target branch, in which language, and at what cost. We answer all three here, with only the figures we can stand behind.

Which universities have the deepest engineering catalogues

Of the 54 universities on Homa Study's partner list, 40 offer at least one engineering programme, and the total number of engineering-related tracks across the whole list runs past 500. That depth is not evenly spread; a few of the deepest catalogues:

This table is part of the list, not all of it. Each university's exact engineering branches, level (bachelor's, master's or doctoral), and tuition are on that university's own page or on the tuition page. Because engineering tuition at any given university differs from that university's other programmes, quoting one "university tuition" figure here would be misleading for engineering specifically — we confirm the exact figure for your target branch in the free consultation or on that university's own table.

Language of instruction: English or Turkish

Most of our partner universities offer at least one English-taught programme, and engineering is no exception — but which specific engineering branch is taught in English versus Turkish varies university by university and even branch by branch, so we are not writing a single blanket figure for "how many universities teach engineering in English" on this page.

At a university that offers a given engineering branch in both languages, two paths are available:

• The English track requires a valid language certificate or a pass on the university's own language exam. If you meet that, a year of language preparation is removed from your timeline.
• The Turkish track usually opens with a one-year Turkish preparatory course (hazırlık) unless your level is already sufficient — the mechanics of that year are covered in our hazırlık prep-year guide.

Admission: what it actually takes

Admission to an engineering bachelor's programme, like the rest of a private Turkish university's programmes, is reviewed on your high-school academic record, and Iran's national entrance exam plays no part in it. For an initial review, usually this is enough: a passport scan, your diploma or most recent qualification, your transcripts, and — for the English track — a language certificate. Maths and science grades are typically reviewed as supporting evidence rather than a hard entry bar in most private universities; Bahçeşehir University's published international admission requirements are a typical example of this.

The exact grade threshold, open capacity for the current year, and any additional documents vary by university. That is not something to guess on a general page, so we check it directly with the university each year and give you the current answer in the free consultation.

For master's and doctoral engineering study, the basis for review is the previous degree and its transcripts, and most branches also ask for a statement of purpose; this too varies branch by branch and is confirmed in the same consultation.

International accreditation is a separate question from admission

Engineering degrees from Turkey in Iran: the honest answer

This is the question most families ask before they ask about tuition. Evaluating a foreign degree in general fields such as engineering in Iran is the job of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) — a separate body from the Ministry of Health, which evaluates medical fields — and it reviews each graduate's file individually, after they finish their studies. No agency or consultant, including us, can determine that outcome for you in advance.

The university pages on this site only state an MSRT status where that status has actually been confirmed to us; for most of the engineering-offering universities in our list, that status is currently unpublished — meaning not yet verified and published, not rejected.
