Five years: from phantom heads to real patients

The Turkish DDS model splits cleanly in two:

This is how Biruni University — one of our Istanbul partners — describes its own faculty: the first three years combine coursework with "preclinical practical training" in "fully equipped Prosthodontics and Phantom Laboratories, where students are trained in procedures before clinical application," after which "students perform diagnosis and treatment on patients in our state-of-the-art clinics, under the supervision of experienced faculty members" (Biruni Faculty of Dentistry (opens in a new tab), accessed 30 Jul 2026).

Two practical consequences follow. First, chair time is the product you are buying: when comparing faculties, ask how many patient chairs the clinic runs and how clinical quotas per student work — the answers differ more than the brochures do. Second, budget past tuition: dentistry involves instrument kits and consumables that most other programs do not have, so ask each faculty what those cost per year. English or Turkish — and what the gap costs

Both tracks exist across our partner list, sometimes side by side with two prices at the same faculty: Istanbul Okan charges $14,250 for the Turkish track and $17,100 for English; Istanbul Health and Technology charges $13,000 and $15,000. Why does the same five-year degree span €5,000 to $54,750? Location, clinic scale, reputation, language, and — at the top end — faculties with long-established names. Yeditepe, for instance, was Turkey's first foundation-university dentistry faculty and prices accordingly even after its discount. Whether that premium is worth it depends on where you plan to practice and what the licensing path there rewards; it is precisely the kind of trade-off a consultation exists to work through.

About that €22,000 → €5,000 discount

It deserves its own section because it looks like a trick and is not one. The €5,000 rate at Cyprus Aydın is the university's own institutional discount against its €22,000 list price, standing for students we introduce this cycle and confirmed in our July 2026 price review. Three things keep it honest:

• It is assessed, not sold. The university grants the rate after reviewing an applicant's file. Nobody — not us, not anyone — legitimately sells scholarships or discounts; if someone offers to, walk away.
• It is a current rate, not a promise. Partner rates are re-set by universities; we verify ours on a dated review cycle, which is why every price on this page carries a "reviewed July 2026" stamp and why the pricing page is the live reference.
• It changes the math, not the degree. The curriculum obligations above — five years, phantom labs, patient clinics — are identical at full list price and at the discounted rate.

Deep discounts of this kind are how newer faculties compete for international students against established names. That is a legitimate strategy, and a real saving — as long as you also weigh the younger clinic against the established one on the factors that matter to you.

Admission: your transcript does the work

Recognition: country by country, no shortcuts

Unlike medicine, dentistry has no single global directory everyone checks; recognition runs through each country's licensing authority, one file at a time. What we can verify, and how we hedge it:

• In Turkey and North Cyprus. All our Turkish partners operate under YÖK, Turkey's higher-education council. North Cyprus universities operate under YÖDAK, the North Cyprus council that supervises and accredits the sector (YÖDAK (opens in a new tab)), and Türkiye's government describes the established universities there as accredited by both YÖDAK and YÖK (Turkish MFA note (opens in a new tab)).
• In Iran. The Ministry of Health and Medical Education evaluates foreign dentistry degrees the same way it evaluates medicine: a periodically updated list of approved foreign universities maintained through its Educational Services Center, plus evaluation examinations. A degree from a university outside the applicable list faces refusal of evaluation. The list changes, so we do not reprint it — confirm the specific university's status for your enrollment year directly with the ministry, in writing, before paying anyone a deposit. None of this is a reason to avoid Turkey or North Cyprus — it is a reason to verify before enrolling rather than discover after graduating.
